OATS- Osteochondral Autologous Transplantation
OATS procedure is performed on joint articular surface where there is a well circumscribed lesion surrounded by good healthy bone and cartilage. This procedure is usually performed in the young who have suffered Osteochondritis Dissecans or Trauma. The idea is to harvest normal cartilage and bone from a non articular part of the joint and transplanted into the affected area.
